Nikon Announces the NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.2 S Fast Prime for Professionals

Nikon has announced its latest addition to its S series lens lineup – the NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.2 S. Aimed squarely at professionals, it’s a fast, medium-wide-angle lens that should appeal to photographers and filmmakers seeking a combination of sharpness, subject isolation, and creative depth.

On paper, the optics look impressive

With its f/1.2 aperture, Nikon says this 35mm prime is designed to create smooth, natural bokeh and help subjects pop from their surroundings. Three ED and one aspherical ED element aim to correct chromatic aberrations and maintain edge-to-edge sharpness.

To further combat issues like ghosting and flare, Nikon has applied its Nano Crystal, ARNEO, and Meso Amorphous coatings—features often reserved for lenses targeting high-end shooters.
