Sigma expands Canon RF mount offerings with four new f/1.4 DC DN primes

Sigma has unveiled four new prime lenses for Canon RF mount cameras, expanding its APS-C lineup. The release includes the 16mm f/1.4 ($489), 23mm f/1.4 ($599), 30mm f/1.4 ($369), and 56mm f/1.4 ($529) DC DN | Contemporary lenses, all part of Sigma’s well-regarded Contemporary series.

These lenses are designed to deliver premium optical performance in compact, lightweight designs, catering to photography enthusiasts and professionals alike.

A Growing Family of RF Mount Lenses

Initially teased in April 2024, these lenses join Sigma’s existing Canon RF mount options, such as the 10-18mm f/2.8 ($659) and the 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN | Contemporary lenses ($524), released earlier this year. With this launch, Sigma now offers six native APS-C RF mount lenses, reflecting its commitment to the Canon EOS R system while maintaining compatibility with other platforms, including Sony E-mount, Fujifilm X-mount, and Nikon Z-mount.

Key Features and Performance

Each lens boasts a bright f/1.4 aperture, ideal for low-light shooting, portraiture, and creating beautiful bokeh. These primes are also optimized for fast and precise autofocus, supported by a control algorithm tailored for the Canon RF mount. Additional perks include in-camera aberration correction and Servo AF compatibility, enhancing usability across a range of applications.

The build quality follows Sigma’s high standards, featuring rubber-sealed mounts for environmental resistance, ensuring reliability even in challenging conditions. For those looking to adapt existing Sigma lenses, a mount conversion service is available.
