DJI Osmo 7 Series Gimbals

DJI has just dropped the Osmo Mobile 7 Series, and if you’re into smartphone photography or content creation, this might be worth a look. Even if you already own the DJI Osmo Mobile 6 or Osmo Mobile SE, the new 7 series adds some welcome features.

The latest generation of DJI’s smartphone gimbal lineup comes in two flavours: the Osmo Mobile 7P and the Osmo Mobile 7, both featuring DJI’s seventh-gen stabilisation, an improved ActiveTrack 7.0 system, and some new intelligent tools to up your shooting game.

More Stability, More Control

At the core of both models is DJI’s refined three-axis stabilisation. It’s designed to keep your shots smooth and stable even when you’re moving.

The Osmo Mobile 7P takes it up a notch with a more powerful stabiliser and a new Multifunctional Module. This module improves subject tracking and also acts as a microphone receiver and even provides extra power via USB-C. It’s essentially a Swiss Army knife for your gimbal, making it particularly appealing for mobile videographers.

The Osmo Mobile 7, on the other hand, is positioned as the more affordable option. It still includes a built-in tripod, quick unfolding, and compatibility with the Multifunctional Module (though you’ll have to buy it separately).

Smarter Tracking with ActiveTrack 7.0

DJI’s ActiveTrack has been getting smarter with each iteration, and DJI says version 7.0 is no exception. Whether you’re tracking a subject in a crowded space or switching focus between multiple people, the gimbal is designed to follow movement with precision. The new Smart Capture feature makes it easy to lock onto a subject with just a tap in the DJI Mimo app.

Gesture controls also get an upgrade. You can now use simple hand gestures to start tracking, take photos, or even adjust the composition. It’s a small but handy feature for solo creators who don’t want to keep reaching for their phones.

DJI has also managed to shave some weight off, with the Osmo Mobile 7 coming in at just 10 ounces (about 300g), making it one of the lightest smartphone gimbals in its class. Battery life is another win, with up to 10 hours of operation on a single charge – plenty for a full day of shooting. It can even charge your phone.
